Plasma
Plasma is an imaging technique commonly used in flat-panel TVs. Plasma is built like this: behind the front glass are two transparent electrodes. The electrodes are surrounded by neon and xenon gases. The electrodes receive power until they reach a certain level. Then there is a plasma discharge which results in the emitted ultraviolet light. The ultraviolet light lights a phosphor coating that starts to glow,
these emits light of red, green or blue (RGB).
The light forms an image point / pixel on the screen.
A plasma television has usually more natural sharpness, contrast and blacks than an LCD TV, it has a shorter response time, which means it can handle fast moving pictures better.
