What is HDTV?

What is really the difference between HDTV and ordinary Digital SDTV?
The major difference lies in the resolution, "ordinary" SDTV (Standard Definition TV) is broadcasted with a resolution of 480i/576i, which is the same as today's DVD´s

HDTV varies between three different resolutions, 720p, 1080i & 1080p
It has doubled the number of lines of resolution! The figures in the resolution represents the number of vertical lines that the image consist in!
1080i stands for interlaced and 1080p stands for progressive scan.

Even the sound of HDTV is better than SDTV which is usually broadcast in Dolby Digital! Note that even SDTV is sometimes broadcast in Dolby Digital.

How do I get HD TV?
